Page 2 – You were quite fortunate to obtain the Bridge tour as well. Even suite occupants are no longer permitted to access the Bridge. Concierge got our photographs from Shutters on our last voyage. They received them twice, first halfway through the voyage and again on the final evening.
- You just keep the ones you want and return the others to the concierge; Shutters will then bill your onboard account for the ones you retained.
- I believe they included a form to determine what you kept.

- It was extremely convenient to remain away from Shutters knowing that the photographs will be sent to our cabin.
- We embarked on the four-day Disney Wonder cruise on January 24, 2010.
- Cat 4 to 3 was $600 and there were many units available.
- No category 2 rooms were available.
- Cat 4 to 1 (the Roy O Disney suite) cost $1,550 per night.
We deliberated and decided to proceed. What an amazing room! We paid for a category 4 room, which is the smallest accommodation that can accommodate a family of five. Due to the “kids sail free” special, this was cheaper than two contiguous cabins, and we want a veranda.
- Only the cruise and taxes are included below.
- Not included are airfare, vehicle hire, tipping, eating at Palos, a pre-cruise day in Florida, and two more nights spent at Disney World following the trip, among other expenditures.24 January 2010 4 day Wonder, youngsters sail free Room w/Tax Child 13 $44.92 Child 9 $44.92 Child 6 $44.92 Adult $1,093.92 Adult $1,093.92 Child 13 $44.92 Child 9 $44.92 Child 6 $44.92 Adult $2,322.60 The port will upgrade cat 4 to cat 1 on day four.
Incredible= $1,550.00 Total: $3,872.60 I wonder why more people are upgrading at the port rather than reserving suites in advance. I’ve paid extra in advance for a Cat 3 room for two persons for four nights. I believe I will join the club and reevaluate my booking method for future frequent sailings.
Great deal you received. Congrats! This is also what the concierge did for us last summer. It was extremely convenient to remain away from Shutters knowing that the photographs will be sent to our cabin. Last summer, we were in a Category 3 storm, but they did not inform us of this. I am eager to view the photographs, therefore I would go there every day looking for them.
It provides me with a purpose. I wonder why more people are upgrading at the port rather than reserving suites in advance. I’ve paid extra in advance for a Cat 3 room for two persons for four nights. I believe I will join the club and reevaluate my booking method for future frequent sailings.
Great deal you received. Congrats! When we sailed last summer, there were no Category 1 or 2 storms in port, but I believe there were four or more Category 3 storms. Therefore, we updated at port. BUT.we would have been quite content with the accommodation we had reserved. While we were waiting in line to enter the terminal, we learned that there were possible upgrades.
If I had desired a suite from the outset, I would never have taken the risk that one would be available at check-in. I was tense and concerned as I awaited our turn and hoped there would still be a spot for us. I don’t believe I’d want to embark on another cruise feeling compelled to race to the port, be first in line, and be restless throughout check-in until they send you to the other counter to check for upgrades.
- It diminished the enjoyment of the day.

It diminished the enjoyment of the day. I concur; reserve the accommodation you will be satisfied with from the start, and if you desire to attempt for an upgrade, do so. That is exactly what we did. We did inquire two days in advance regarding an upgrade. The Roy O and numerous cat 3 rooms were available at that time.
Had we upgraded two days earlier when we contacted, the price would have been significantly higher, over $5,000 to upgrade to cat 1 as opposed to $1,550 at the port. ^^^ OP, congrats on your upgrading! It seems like you had a wonderful time on your trip.
Udos to you. Are upgrades exclusively available to early-arriving passengers? During a voyage on the Magic in February 2009, we were promoted from a Cat 4 to a Cat 3, yet we did not arrive in port early. We flew in that day, arriving at port shortly before noon, and did not anticipate any possible upgrades.
However, by midday there were numerous available upgrades, including a couple suites, for purchase at the dock. BTW-when we were in our suite, our room steward, Rodolfo, was fantastic. ^^^ OP, congrats on your upgrading! It seems like you had a wonderful time on your trip.
- Udos to you.
- Are upgrades exclusively available to early-arriving passengers? There is no guarantee that an upgrade will be available regardless of your arrival time.
- Let me provide an illustration.
- The ship is completely booked, but a passenger in a category 1 room becomes ill the day before the cruise and cancels.
One Bingo room is currently available. Suppose a guest in a category 3 accommodation requests and accepts an upgrade. Now that the accommodation in category 1 is reserved, a room in category 3 becomes available. Next, a guest in a category 4 room requests and accepts the upgrade.
Now that the category 3 room is reserved, a category 4 room becomes available, etc. Obviously, a person staying in a category 12 room can upgrade to a category 1 room, but only one family can do so. Nevertheless, I believe that this is feasible but improbable. The person who booked a category 12 accommodation presumably has a smaller budget, thus they would have to spend more to upgrade to a category 1 room than the one who booked a category 4 room.
Again, it is possible, but I believe it is less likely to occur. Therefore, even if the category you want is currently unavailable, it may become accessible in the future. If you are seeking a top category upgrade, I believe that the earlier you get at the port and the quicker you check in, the higher your chances, but there is no assurance.
The only method to ensure travel in a specific category is to reserve it in advance. It is therefore a question of chance and time. I learned about upgrades only after joining Disboards. Once, I improved this. I have read several articles on Disboards about upgrading. One person, identified by the alias kcashner, has commented about her several encounters with upgrading.
If you want to learn more about port upgrading, I suggest searching for her blogs and reading the ones that pertain to port upgrades. I found her knowledge to be quite useful. - We are booked in two cat.4s – five of us in one and my mother in the other – and would wish to upgrade to a larger space.
Also, can five fit in a cat? Thank you for your posts!! There is space for five in category three. There is a bedroom with a queen-sized bed (I believe it was a queen) and a twin sofa bed and a double sofa bed in the main area. I believe our upgrade for a seven-day Western was $1,800.
Not inexpensive, but we felt it was worth it (even if we would have been just as pleased with the category 4 we had initially reserved!) BTW, had we booked the cat.3 in advance, the price would have been significantly more. A week before to our departure, we discovered that there were some cat.3 apartments available and balked at the price difference.
I cannot recall the exact amount, but it was far more than $1800. We are booked in two cat.4s – five of us in one and my mother in the other – and would wish to upgrade to a larger space. Also, can five fit in a cat? Thank you for your posts!! Shauna – You may sleep five in a Category 3 cabin, excluding the four aft rooms, which are HC and only accommodate four.
Only the four cat 3 midships feature a murphy bed in the living area rather than the bedroom. We upgraded in April from a cat 4 to a cat 5 for around $650 (can’t recall exact amount). Also, since you have two cabins, only one will be improved, while the other will remain unchanged. If you have additional??? 3 cabins regarding cats, drop me a private message.
Karen Since suites have a concierge service, it is advisable to check in at the lobby upon boarding. There is a button on the telephone that connects directly to the concierge; they will supply ice, bar glasses, sodas, etc.
- Within minutes.
- Additionally, you may purchase canned drink and bottled water through room service.
- DCL utilizes unique barware in its rooms, which is provided by the concierge.
- If you wish to reuse the towels, hang them properly on the poles to prevent their removal (conserves energy).
- They will be collected if left on the ground or spread about.
If you are unable to locate an outlet, the concierge will assist you. Regardless of your evening rotation, you can order room service from any of the rotating restaurants. (Cat 1 and 2 may also arrange delivery of Palo) Contact the concierge when you are ready for the dishes to be removed.
If you would like a complete breakfast delivered, please place your order the night before and specify the time you would like it to arrive. In other words, the concierge is your initial point of contact for any request. It appears that you had a lovely cruise. Your soon-to-be (if you call it 369 days) neighbor – Can’t Wait!! Unless you again upgrade, we will at least be neighbors.
There is a secret outlet in the Cat 2 and 3 suites for all future suite cruisers; I have not yet stayed in a Cat 1 suite. Pull out the vanity’s upper leftmost drawer. There is a plug in the rear. Plug in your extension cord and reinstall the drawer (it should go in most of the way).
The nightstand is 3 feet away through the door, thus I can use this outlet to charge my electronics there. Congratulations on your promotion, do you have any images to share? When we set off on January 3 for a four-day voyage, we were booked in a category 3 vessel. At the dock at 11:45, a cat 2 was available for an upgrade fee of around $700.
We rejected (there were only two of us), but it was fascinating to fantasize for a while while we deliberated. Received an upgrade to the Roy O. Disney suite.
Where on the dream is the Roy O. Disney Royal Suite?
December 11, 2019 On a recent Very Merrytime Cruise, our buddy Chris (@CHRIS MAGIC DCL) stayed in the Roy O. Disney Royal Suite aboard the Disney Dream. What is the difference between Disney Cruise Line’s Royal suites?
How a Disney Dream Suite made our family’s trip the greatest ever – After a few of Disney Cruises when our children were smaller, I felt a little let down. But after focused on Disney World and other locations for a few years, I was ready to take a Disney Cruise again.
- On my first two voyages, I was occasionally dissatisfied with the service, the cuisine, and the size of my bedroom.
- This time, I was ready to pull out all the stops in order to offer Disney the opportunity to assist make this the trip I want.
- I reserved one of the one-bedroom Concierge suites for a 4-night Bahamian cruise on the Disney Dream (picture by David Roark).
The Disney Concierge level appealed to me because of its capacity to smooth out the meals and stateroom comfort issues we had on our prior voyages. There were bedding possibilities for up to three children in the living area, while the master bedroom afforded solitude with bedding and bath amenities that are typical of concierge apartments.
- Royal Suites aboard Disney ships include wide verandas with hot tubs, while the Disney Wish includes Royal Suites that can accommodate up to eight passengers, removing the need for connected cabins.
- The Disney Concierge level appealed to me because of its capacity to smooth out the meals and stateroom comfort issues we had on our prior voyages.
For longer voyages aboard the Disney Fantasy? This is certainly worthwhile. The third attempt was successful. Our family trip on the Disney Dream’s Concierge Level was perhaps our finest ever.
What is a concierge room on a Disney Cruise?
The One Bedroom Disney Concierge Suite – The One-Bedroom Concierge Suite is twice as large as a regular cabin. We were able to spend our time in the room with our two sons without having to climb over one another. The entry-level cabins in the Concierge section of Disney Cruises are deluxe veranda rooms.
Even though it has the same size as the deluxe family verandah room, its interior design concept and bath facilities mirror those of the bigger suites. Disney Cruise Concierge One Bedroom Suites. (Image via Disney Cruise Line) From there, we were advised that our stateroom was available. A Host led us to the room and gave us a tour.
The suite with one bedroom aboard the Dream is exquisite and roomy. It has a separate bedroom space, two bathrooms, a soaking tub, a dining table, a sofa, a Murphy bed, and a double-sized porch.
How large are the rooms on the Disney Cruise?
Stunning sneak peek of the Disney Wish Concierge service! – It was a pleasure to stay in one of the Disney Cruise suites at sea, which are larger (approximately 600 square feet) and more luxurious than most hotel accommodations. After admiring the accommodation, we donned our swimwear and boarded the AquaDuck.
