Keep in mind that even if you’re quick and make a Genie+ or Lightning Lane option as quickly as possible, the time frame might vary automatically, so it’s crucial to be adaptable if this occurs.

As a longtime FastPass+ user, the unfamiliarity of Genie+ on my first trip with it was one of the things that startled me. If you’re familiar with FastPass+ but have never used Genie+, or if you’ve never gone to Disney World, this tutorial will explain how to purchase and utilize Genie+. If you are not interested in purchasing Genie+ or Lightning Lanes and would like to learn how to configure Genie and the Tip Board for convenient touring, go here. When FastPass+ was eliminated and Lightning Lane was introduced, a great deal of new language emerged.

• Here is a brief summary.
• I feel that the greatest analogy for this line-skipping approach is a restaurant that offers an all-you-can-eat dinner buffet but sells desserts à la carte.
• There is nothing preventing you from visiting the restaurant and ordering simply the buffet, a dessert, or numerous desserts, but there are no desserts in the buffet, and buying a dessert does not include supper.

Once food is placed in front of you, your table manners are identical: use silverware and chew with your lips closed. Genie+ is the buffet, whilst Individual Lightning Lane Rides are the sweets. With Genie+, you pay once and may choose from a variety of rides; you can make fresh Genie+ Lightning Lane reservations for featured rides without paying again.

• Individual Lightning Lane reservations are analogous to purchasing chocolate cake: you just order the cake, it does not matter if you have Genie+, and you only receive one reservation.
• The method of checking in and utilizing the Lightning Lane (the special line) is same for both Genie+ and ILL reservations.

The free, basic version of Disney Genie features two tabs. The first is the Tip Board, which displays attraction wait times and the availability of Lightning Lane. The second page is My Day, where you can check any bookings you’ve made along with Genie’s suggestions for your unique schedule.

If you are not utilizing Lightning Lanes and you recall or do not have a lunch reservation, you do not need to utilize Disney Genie unless you like to. You can continue to examine wait times and any other information in MDE as you have in the past. You must use Genie to utilize Genie+ or purchase Individual Lightning Lane bookings.

You may still utilize the Tip Board and Lightning Lane reservation features if you want to bypass this arrangement, but you will lose some convenience. You may begin configuring Genie in one of two locations: the MDE Home Screen or the Hamburger Menu.

If you do not have a Park Pass reservation, you cannot progress to the next stage. In the subsequent screens, you will choose the park, the day, and your traveling companions. The order of the subsequent screens can vary somewhat, and you may or may not be presented with the option to purchase Genie+ as part of the sequence.

Don’t worry, you’ll get another opportunity if you click away now. Most of these panels are self-explanatory (and you can adjust your selections afterwards), but the Top Picks screen is less evident. Your Top Picks selections will display at the top of your Tip Board, so selecting attractions for which you want a Lightning Lane will save you some scrolling in the future.

If it is after 7 a.m., the last screen will provide Genie’s recommendations for the day. You can program Genie for days in the future if you choose, but Genie will always wait until 7 a.m. on the day of your visit to provide recommendations. We do not advocate using the customized suggestions function as a touring itinerary at this time, as we rarely find Genie’s recommendations to be a useful way to experience the parks.

If you have already purchased Genie+ as an add-on to your ticket or as part of a package, you do not need to complete this step to make Genie+ bookings.

• If you haven’t already, you may begin purchasing Genie+ at 12:01 a.m.
• On the day you want to use it.
• Nota bene: the Genie+ ticket add-on is no longer offered, however there are still unused tickets that were purchased prior to its discontinuation.
• You may receive a splash screen to purchase Genie+ when accessing Genie for the first time on a given day; if you have a park reservation, you will see the opportunity to pay on the My Day tab.

You’ll also discover a banner at the very top of the Tip Board, and if you click on a Lightning Lane time after 7 a.m., you’ll be encouraged to make a purchase. You shouldn’t have any trouble locating an entrance point into the Genie+ purchase procedure, since Disney will gladly accept your money.

Genie+ will automatically choose all members of your party, but you do not need to purchase it for everyone. In the second screen below, you may choose Edit to eliminate individuals who will not be making Genie+ bookings. After the confirmation page displayed on the right, selecting Continue will return you to either My Day or the Tip Board, depending on where your transaction began.

Tax is not included in the price listed on the Detail Review screen (second from above). In the Order Summary, you’ll see the total amount due, including tax (3rd above). To create a Genie+ reservation, begin at the Tip Board and pick the desired experience.

1. In the “Review Details” screen, be certain to note the reservation’s time.
2. It is quite usual for this to be a different time than what you saw on the Tip Board, even if you refreshed the board just before booking.
3. You are not required to accept the updated time if it doesn’t work for you (click the x in the upper-left corner to cancel), but you cannot modify the time displayed here.

As usual, you may opt to make reservations for all members of your group or merely a subset of them. If you are making a reservation between 7:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m., you will not see a time as shown in the images below. You will be able to make reservations, but the option will read “Check Availability.” It still matters when you book, as earlier bookings typically result in quicker returns.
