Basically, this means they can drop you off and pick you up at any Disney hotel, Disney Springs, and the Disney parks (with one exception).

Taxi – In Orlando, Florida, both Uber and Lyft serve MCO and Universal Studios. The travel time is comparable to renting a car (between 20 minutes to an hour depending on traffic). However, it eliminates the inconvenience of driving between the two locations.

From Orlando Airport to Universal Studios, a ride with Uber costs between $28 and $70.
Pricing for Uber depends on the time of day you travel, the amount of traffic, the demand for the service, and the type of service/vehicle you select.
Depending on the time of day, the cheapest vehicle costs between $25 and $35 and can accommodate up to four people.

If you’re traveling with a larger group, you should choose the UberXL, which can accommodate up to six passengers and typically costs between $35 and $50. The most expensive Uber service is Uber Black, which consists of luxury rides driven by trained professionals.

Each vehicle seats up to four passengers and costs between $60 and $70 between the two locations on average. The cost of a Lyft between Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Universal Studios ranges from $23 to $100. The exact cost is dependent on the type of Lyft you select (carpool, standard, SUV/minibus, or luxury) as well as the local traffic and demand for the Lyft service.

The cheapest Lyft service is the “Wait & Save” or “carpool” service; however, the small reduction of approximately 10% compared to the standard service is not worth it in this instance. Instead, I would suggest the standard Lyft service, which costs between $23 and $30 on average.

The vehicle has four seats and will arrive as soon as possible (unlike the wait and save service).

Between MCO and Universal, Lyft XL cars can accommodate up to six passengers and cost between $35 and $45 on average.
Lastly, we have the LUX Black XL.
This is the most expensive Lyft service and costs approximately $100 on average.

These cars accommodate up to four passengers and may be worth the extra cost if you desire a touch of luxury upon arrival. It is imperative that you do not book your Lyft or Uber until you have cleared immigration, security, and collected your luggage, as the car will leave after five minutes and you will still be charged.

Instead, wait until you are ready to depart before making your reservation.
You can be picked up by Uber and Lyft from either Terminal A or Terminal B.
No terminal is less expensive than any other.
However, prices for various services vary based on supply and demand.
Therefore, if you want to save up to $10, you should download both Uber and Lyft and compare the prices of your trip in real time.

Prices are subject to real-time fluctuations based on demand, so compare prices only when you’re ready to book. Each terminal has a limited number of outside pick-up locations. Using the navigation bar at the bottom of the application, you can select the closest pickup location.

The pick-up points correspond to the baggage claim areas adjacent to you within the airport. However, once you exit the airport, you will see the baggage claim numbers displayed on the ceiling so that you can ensure you are in line with the one you chose. After selecting a pick-up location, you will be assigned a driver.

This procedure may take up to five minutes, depending on the current demand for drivers. You can use the message field to provide the driver with any additional information necessary to locate you. This is especially useful if the pick-up area is crowded, as you will only have five minutes to locate your vehicle before it departs (at which point you will be charged a fee).

This included a base fare of $14.03, a toll charge of $1.93, a booking fee of $7.67, a temporary fuel surcharge of $0.55, and an MCO airport surcharge of $5.80. These additional fees are standard for an Orlando airport pick-up with Uber and Lyft and are included in your initial quote when comparing prices.

In addition to Uber and Lyft, you can also take a taxi from Orlando International Airport to Universal Studios. Independent taxi companies from the surrounding area serve the airport 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so you can still get from the airport to your accommodation if you arrive without pre-booked transfers and with a dead phone. Be aware that if you plan to travel during rush hour, the price may be higher than usual. Recently, Universal relocated the Uber pick-up and drop-off location to the fifth floor of the Jurassic Park section in the North parking garage of Universal CityWalk, giving ride-sharing services their own area.

In addition, they implemented a $4 surcharge for Uber pickups at their theme parks. Currently, the fee is not applicable at their resorts. Universal stated that the additional fees would go toward a waiting area for riders and improved signage. This additional fee may not seem substantial, but it can add up over the course of your vacation, so keep that in mind.

We strongly advise 2022 visitors to reserve one of these shuttles rather than relying on Uber or Lyft. Without Disney’s Magical Express, rideshare demand is largely unknown, and there may be insufficient supply (or drivers) in the Orlando market during times of high travel volume, such as spring break or Easter 2022.

This problem existed last year with ridesharing and rental cars, and I’m concerned that it will reoccur in Spring 2022.
Recently, there have been issues with car rental companies overbooking, canceling reservations unilaterally, or failing to honor reservations.

Mears Connect – Shortly after Disney World’s announcement that Magical Express would be discontinued, Mears announced it would launch a similar service; however, there are pros and cons to using this service. Mears is the company that operated the buses for Disney World’s Magical Express service, as well as the taxi cabs serving Disney World resort hotels and theme parks, so this service will likely be comparable to what Magical Express veterans are accustomed to.

Mears Connect, which launches on 1 January 2022, offers two service types, Standard and Express. There are dedicated buses from Orlando to the various Disney World resort hotels, much like the Magical Express service. The one-way cost is $16 per adult and $13.50 per child (ages 3 to 9). There are no discounts or booking requirements for round-trip travel.

At the time of booking, you must have your exact flight information available, and the booking engine will verify your flights. Standard service guarantees a departure within twenty minutes of check-in at the Mears Connect desk at MCO. Express service can be quite a bit pricier.

It is important to note that when Mears Connect was first announced, Express service cost $200.) Remember that this is not a private car service, and that your experience will vary from trip to trip.

While Express service promises little to no wait time at departure, a private vehicle cannot be guaranteed. It may not be a larger bus, either. Mears indicates they are able to provide a bus, a van, or a small vehicle. Since Mears operates a diverse fleet of vehicles, it is possible, but not guaranteed, that you and your family will be transported in a private van.

Note that Florida law does not require a car seat in vehicles driven by a paid driver and that Mears does not offer car seats for Express service.

Shared-Ride Van Service – Shared shuttle van service can be a cost-effective option for one or two individuals, but Lyft should be considered first. SNA, LGB, and LAX are served by a number of shuttle services, including Sunny’s Transportation and Karmel Shuttle.

Be aware that this mode of transportation can be slow, as you must wait for the shuttle to pick up multiple passengers at multiple airport stops before transporting them to their respective hotels. During COVID, many companies discontinued their shared-ride services due to decreased demand. You may need to contact them to determine if they offer shared ride service.

You must make a reservation in advance for shuttle van service. A credit card is required to make the reservation. Check the cancellation policies of each shuttle service before making a reservation. Shared shuttle van service from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) costs approximately $45 per person one-way and $90 per person round-trip, plus gratuity.

Shared shuttle van service from Orange County/John Wayne Airport (SNA) costs approximately $20 per person one way and $40 per person round trip, plus gratuity. With as few as two people, Lyft can be a better deal than the shuttle services; we use ride.guru to compare estimated fares and see. Allow about another 10-15% over what ride.
