A Lightning Lane entrance is a queue available at select attractions and experiences for Guests to purchase in order to save time waiting in line. In order to use a Lightning Lane entrance, Guests must select an arrival window through the My Disney Experience mobile app prior to entering an attraction or experiencing.
How does lightning lane Disney work?
How is Lightning Lane operational? – The general public can utilize the Lightning Lane queue at an attraction in two distinct ways: Genie+ (See our Genie+ page for details!) Genie+ provides “next available” access to Lightning Lanes at multiple attractions for a daily flat rate.
Individual Lightning Lane purchases are available for one or two attractions outside of the Genie+ offerings at each park. Essentially, you pay to enter the Lightning Lane in order to avoid a potentially lengthy line. A Disney Hotel Guest may purchase any available Individual Lightning Lane attraction (see list below) beginning daily at 7:00 a.m.
through the My Disney Experience app. Individual Lighting Lanes for attractions can be purchased by non-Disney Hotel guests when the attraction’s park officially opens for the day. There is a daily limit of two Individual Lightning Lane purchases, and the same attraction cannot be purchased twice on the same day.
What’s the Difference Between Lightning Lanes, Genie+, and Individual Attraction Selections? – Priority comes first: What is the difference between Individual Attraction Selections, Genie+, and Lighting Lanes? Simply put, Lightning Lanes are essentially the same as the previous FastPass lines, albeit for a fee.
In other words, the Lightning Lane is the route you will take to bypass all of the individuals waiting in the standby line. In contrast, Genie+ and Individual Attraction Selections are the means by which you can reserve Lightning Lanes. Therefore, regardless of whether you purchase Genie+, Individual Attraction Selections, or both, you will utilize the Lightning Lane.
Individual Lightning Lane Selections will be reserved for the most popular E-ticket rides, while Disney Genie+ will allow guests to bypass lines at over 40 attractions. Consider attractions with virtual queues or rides with typically lengthy wait times.

What are the costs of Individual Lightning Lane passes? – Date, attraction, and park affect the cost of the pay-per-ride option. The average cost per person ranges from $7 to $15.
