New Information and First Looks at the Next Disney Cruise Line Ship and Island Destination Yesterday at the D23 Expo, Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products, announced a wealth of new activities for visitors! As part of the announcements, Josh revealed first information on the fleet’s sixth ship, concept drawings for its new island destination, and an entirely new holiday experience for Australians and New Zealanders.
I am thrilled to share everything with you today! Disney fans were the first to discover that the newest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet would be named Disney Treasure. The ship will be created with a brand-new, unheard-of concept for Disney Cruise Line: the theme of adventure. This new design idea, inspired by Walt Disney’s passion for adventure, will pave the way for epic experiences that immerse visitors in some of the company’s most renowned tales.
So what does adventure look like? Check out this magic carpet journey in the Grand Hall, the beautiful atrium of the Disney Treasure. The Grand Hall will emanate the seductive attraction of adventure, enticing passengers to seek out all the ship’s riches as soon as they board.
It draws on real-world elements from Asia and Africa and pays homage to the distant realm of Agrabah from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ classic story “Aladdin.” The trademark atrium statue – a Disney Cruise Line institution — will depict Aladdin, Jasmine, and the Magic Carpet soaring toward an entirely new realm of adventure.
The delivery of the Disney Treasure is anticipated for 2024. It follows the Disney Wish, which sailed in July, and is the second of three new ships slated to enter service by 2025. The ships of the Wish class are fuelled by liquefied natural gas and have 1,254 guest cabins.
- In addition, we received a first glimpse at fresh information and concept art for Disney’s second island destination in the Bahamas, Lighthouse Point on the island of Eleuthera.
- Disney is collaborating closely with Bahamian artists and experts to develop a destination that embodies the natural beauty and rich culture of the Bahamas, brought to life through Disney narrative and unmatched local cast and crew service.
It will be a beach resort imbued with the color and vitality of Bahamian art.
