Does Disney World no longer offer annual passes?
Published on 15 January 2021 | Updated on 15 January 2021 The firm will discontinue its yearly pass program at its California theme parks 10 months after they reopened following the coronavirus pandemic. And in Florida, Walt Disney World is no longer selling new annual passes, but is renewing those already in circulation.
Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure, two theme parks in Anaheim, California, said they will begin providing pro-rated refunds to qualified passholders. The Walt Disney World passholder program in Florida remains unchanged, with the exception of the Disney Premier Passport, which grants entrance to parks in both California and Florida.
If you wish to return to Walt Disney World, do not let your annual pass to expire. - One alternative for Florida residents whose tickets have expired is the $199 Florida Resident Discover Disney Ticket, which allows admission to four theme parks, one per day.
- A park-hopping option is available for an additional $241.50.
- This year, there are cheaper choices, with two-day tickets costing $149 and three-day tickets costing $179.
However, the two-day ticket is only valid until March 11. Rick Minarris of the investing website Motley Fool wrote in a blog titled “Disneyland Does the Unthinkable” that the decision makes sense for the company’s bottom line, which has been hammered particularly hard by the coronavirus lockdown.
